May has started and we want to share with you the events related to climate change that will be held in person and virtually through webinars. Don't miss them, get involved and be part of the climate action.

These meetings are very important because they contribute to the construction of the road towards a better climate world.

Weather events scheduled for May 2017:

  • May 2: Start of the Green Marketing course.

  • May 2-6: The Global NDC Conference 2017

This conference is jointly organized by the Paris Agreement Implementation Support Project, UNDP's Low Emissions Capacity Building (LECB) Programme and the Low Emission Development Strategies Global Partnership (LEDS GP) in collaboration with The NDC Partnership. The Conference will be a 3-day practical exchange for government professionals and policy decision makers from up to 60 countries.

  • May 4: Peru's clean air and health at risk, learn why

The Peruvian government is proposing new Environmental Quality Standards (EQS) for air, increasing the permitted levels of sulfur dioxide and particulate matter pollution, substances that cause serious illnesses in people, especially children and the elderly. AIDA presented the Peruvian government with arguments demonstrating that the proposal ignores scientific evidence of the harm caused by both pollutants, and the international obligations of the authorities to provide the population with the necessary conditions for a dignified life.

  • May 4-6: I Congress on Environmental Law and sustainable use of natural resources

The objective of this congress is to disseminate knowledge about the environmental legal system in our country and its institutions, and to promote the efficient and at the same time sustainable and environmentally conscious use of the different natural and energy resources. The following topics will be analyzed: Policy, Management, Certification and Environmental Control, in addition to the specialized study of environmental issues related to natural resources and extractive industries such as Forestry, Water, Electricity, Mining and Hydrocarbons.

  • May 22: International Day for Biological Diversity

Instituted by the Convention on Biological Diversity, to promote public awareness of the value of biodiversity and its contribution to people's quality of life. Peru is among the 15 megadiverse countries on the planet. The Decade of Biodiversity will be celebrated from 2011 to 2021. Peru is among 17 megadiverse countries on the planet.

  • May 22 and 23: Expert workshop on co-benefits

The LEDS LAC Platform, in conjunction with the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) and the support of the EUROCLIMA Program Technical Assistance, is organizing an expert workshop to exchange experiences in using co-benefits analysis to identify synergies and complementarities between mitigation and adaptation.
