March has started and we want to keep you informed about the events related to climate change that will take place this month. We highlight the International Energy Efficiency Forum organized by the Ministry of Energy and Mines, which will bring together experts from the sector and will conclude with a renewable energy fair, as well as the LEDS LAC Webinars, which are part of the series "Cities acting on climate change".

- [March 3 - 12:00 pm]. Festival for the Amazon
This festival seeks to raise funds to complete the construction of a conservation area for vulnerable and endangered animals of the Amazon. This conservation area will function as a rescue center and will seek to care for creatures that are victims of animal trafficking in the Peruvian jungle. It will have yoga workshops, vegan cooking classes and live music.
- [March 3 - 3:00 pm]. Talk: Energy bioconstruction and materialization of impact projects
This event will teach you about the opportunities that Bioconstruction brings and will allow you to learn about the tools that will facilitate your work in this field.
- [March 5 - 9:00 am] International Energy Efficiency Forum
The Ministry of Energy and Mines (MEM), through the National Directorate of Energy Efficiency, will hold the International Forum and Conference on Energy Efficiency in our country, within the framework of the World Energy Efficiency Daywhich is held on March 5 each year. It will feature an Efficient Technologies Fair 2018, a space for the exchange and dissemination of efficient technologies by innovative companies that promote efficient equipment for a more sustainable society. It will be held at the Lima Convention Center (Calle La Arqueología, block 2, San Borja, Lima).
- [March 7 - 10:00 am] LEDS LAC Webinar: Advances of the Footprint of Cities Project
During five years, the Cities Footprint Project supported the formulation of policies, action plans and mitigation and adaptation projects in 12 cities in Latin America, and contributed to strengthen decision-making processes in urban planning and management, including the climate change variable. The results of the project, the advances in the development and application of the methodology for calculating the water footprint in cities, and the case of the Footprint Reduction Plan in the city of Cuenca, Ecuador, will be presented.
- [March 14 - 8:00 am] Conference "Green Economy: Sustainable Business in Peru".
Meet the results of the 2017 edition of the leading event in Sustainability in the Region, nexos+1, will feature the intervention of prominent sustainability leaders such as Javier Perla (Libélula), Kurt Holle (Rainforest expeditions), Pipo Reiser (Sinba), Christian Gutiérrez (Evea), Steve Botts (Santa Barbara Consultants), among others. Event organized by the Swiss Chamber of Commerce in Peru and Libélula.

Responsible Consumption Day is a date to think about and promote consumer rights, to raise our voices and demand that our rights be respected and protected, and to protest against abuses and excesses. Consuming is a daily gesture that gives us the opportunity to have a positive impact on our society.
- [March 21 - 10:00 am] LEDS LAC Webinar: Climate action plans at the municipal level
This webinar addresses two cases of the Vertically Integrated Climate Policies and Climate Action II programs in Mexico and Costa Rica, promoted by the German Development Cooperation, GIZ. On the one hand, how in Mexico the state level, in this case Jalisco, brings national and state level climate policies to the municipal level through guidelines for the development of Municipal Climate Change Plans. On the other hand, how the national level in Costa Rica generates a tool to instruct cantons in the development of Greenhouse Gas Inventories (GHG) as a starting point towards meeting the ambitious goals set by the country.
- [March 21 at 8:00 am] Renpower: Renewable Energy and Power Infrastructure Investors Conference
During the one-day conference, participants will discuss and evaluate investment opportunities in the Peruvian renewable energy sector. Topics on the on- and off-grid energy market, energy efficiency (EE), and interventions on financing renewable energy projects will also be included. - [March 21] International Day of Forests
This World Forest Day gives us the opportunity to raise awareness of the importance of all types of forest ecosystems and trees, and to celebrate the different ways in which forests sustain and protect us. This year we highlight how wood energy (energy that comes from trees) contributes significantly to improving people's lives, promoting sustainable development and mitigating climate change.
- [March 22] World Water Day
The creation of an international day dedicated to water was recommended at the 1992 United Nations Conference on Environment and Development (UNCED) in Rio de Janeiro. The United Nations General Assembly responded to this recommendation by designating March 22, 1993 as the first World Water Day.
- [March 18 to 23] "Water Week" by the National Water Authority.
Within the framework of World Water Day, the National Water Authority is organizing "Water Week" to raise awareness among citizens and authorities about water protection and conservation and to reduce floods, droughts and pollution through alternative solutions found in nature.

- [March 26] World Day for Climate and Climate Change Adaptation
This date invites us to become aware and take effective actions to mitigate and adapt to global climate change, especially in the most vulnerable activities such as agriculture, livestock, fisheries, industry and mining. Peru has 28 of the 32 climates that exist in the world and Piura is the most vulnerable city, due to the effects of the El Niño Current.
