Green Awards
The Latin America Green Awards is one of the most relevant sustainability festivals in the world, which each year awards and gives visibility to the 500 best social and environmental projects in Latin America, thus becoming the showcase that energizes the green economy by showcasing regional initiatives in 10 categories aligned with the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).
The award categories are: Water, Forests and Flora, Biodiversity and Fauna, Human Development, Social Inclusion and Reduction of Inequality, Energy, Sustainable Finance, Urban Management, Solid Waste Management, Oceans, and Responsible Production and Consumption.
Why
Latin America, our common home, has 23% of tropical forests, 31% of water resources and 70% of the planet's biodiversity. However, it is the region with more urban growth where 80% of the population lives in cities; causing pressure on the environment and therefore faces overpopulation, deforestation, loss of biodiversity, water pollution.
Many scientists repeat to us -every minute- that nature is dying. That we are drowning the seas, deforesting the land, eliminating species. Many specialists warn us that we must act immediately. That what we have the least of is time. That we must get closer to each other, change lifestyles, transform people. That is what this event is about. To impact individuals to generate opportunities to change lifestyles in their communities.
