The 19 Peruvian projects within the RANKING of the GREEN AWARDS have been listed by the environmental sections of international journalism as “A meeting with the most important actors in the region” (CNN), and this thanks to the enormous management that this foundation - born in Guayaquil - has done tirelessly for 9 consecutive years, to carry out its objective of making visible and creating networks between the best social and environmental projects worldwide aligned with the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).

But, what about theWhat motivated its founders to create this institution?? One of the main reasons originated from the fact that more than 80% of the socio-environmental projects - worldwide - fail due to lack of visibility. Faced with this situation, since 2013, GREEN AWARDS has worked to generate opportunities for the projects that participate, achieving the necessary exposure and diffusion at local and international level; in addition to being part of training programs certified by the United Nations, with professionals from different areas that allow them to strengthen their projects.

Part of the dynamics of GREEN AWARDS is the presentation of its annual ranking of the Best Projects in Ibero-America, those corresponding to initiatives from different countries of the continents. In this ninth edition; after analyzing and evaluating 2522 projects environmental and social impacts in 28 countries and 655 cities, GREEN AWARDS will make the official announcement of the 500 most relevant projects in Ibero-America and the 3 finalists in each of the 21 categories, who will have access to a complete network of contacts, follow-up and mentoring. From this select group, finally, will come the winners who will be awarded at the end of the week of sustainability in an event that will take place at the end of the week. This year's gala will take place in Miami (host city of the 2022 edition) which will take place in from April 20 to 24.

The finalists come from 12 countries, including Colombia, Chile, Mexico, Argentina, Peru, Ecuador, Venezuela, Guatemala, Bolivia, Brazil, Spain and Costa Rica. The categories to be awarded in this ninth edition are: Biodiversity - Cities -Communication - Human Development - Economics - Energy - Public Policy y Waste.

Peru is one of the countries present in this powerful ranking, with 19 socio-environmental initiatives from the public and private sectors. Pleasingly, there are 5 Peruvian projects within the group of finalists: Wired Amazon, Qaira, Medidor Ambiental KON, Corazones Solidarios and Arena Verde; which will continue in the search for the award in each of their categories in Premios Verdes.

The participation stands out, mainly, for the initiatives aimed at working towards the fulfillment of the Sustainable Development Goals, which are focused on the following Human Development, The category of green jobs generation, poverty reduction (area divided into Education, Community, Equality and Health) obtained a total of 33% out of the total number of applications submitted. It is followed by projects in Waste with a 22% and those of Economy y Biodiversity with 14% nominations each.

Year after year, the whole team feels a sense of gratitude and excitement every time we officialize the Top 500 Ranking. This is a reflection of people with the drive to be agents of change. It is synonymous with the fact that sustainability is not a matter of ideological flags but of human beings who choose to be on the right side of history, the side that works to reduce inequalities and build environmental and economic progress in all sectors”.”
