“Peru hands over the presidency of the COP to France today, but remains firmly committed to the fight against climate change, which is a global problem that affects all of humanity.”, The President of Peru, Ollanta Humala, inaugurated the Peru Pavilion at the COP21 in Paris, together with the Minister of Environment, Manuel Pulgar-Vidal, and the Minister of Foreign Affairs, Ana María Sánchez.

This space of 150 square meters, in which Peru makes available to the international community at COP21, will serve to showcase the progress of our country in adaptation and mitigation of climate change. More than 30 events organized by various public and private institutions, academia, indigenous and civil society organizations will be held in the Pavilion.

The Minister of the Environment invited COP21 attendees to participate in the activities of the Peru Pavilion. These include topics such as forests, resilience, national contributions, mountains, green growth, among others. “The Peru Pavilion is an effort by the Peruvian government to show the world what we have been working on in Peru. We invite everyone to visit us and join Peru's commitment to the fight against climate change,” said the minister.

FROM COP20 TO THE WORLD

As the first event of the Peru Pavilion, the results and methodology of the carbon footprint measurement of the COP20, organized in 2014 by Peru, were presented in Lima.

It is recalled that COP20 was the first Conference of the Parties to measure and neutralize the carbon footprint. This document is Peru's contribution to the world and marks a milestone in the history of the COPs, the organizers indicated.
