The United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (UNFCCC) has recognized the REDD+ Tambopata - Bahuaja Sonene project by Althelia Ecosphere, the NGO AIDER and SERNANP as one of the 16 winners, out of more than 450 nominations, of the 2015 Lighthouse Activity Award in the category “Financing for climate-friendly investments” under the Momentum for Change initiative.

This award recognizes the innovative mechanism of financing with carbon assets, which generates economic resources for farmers through the production of deforestation-free cocoa, while contributing to the conservation of 570,000 hectares of Amazonian forests in Peru.

Momentum for Change is an initiative led by the UN Climate Change Secretariat to highlight the most innovative and replicable examples of what is being done around the world to address climate change.

Each year, Momentum for Change recognizes innovative and transformative solutions that address climate change and its economic, social and environmental challenges. Today's announcement is part of efforts to spur action and ambition from national governments towards the adoption of a new universal climate agreement in Paris.

Our thanks to friends, colleagues and clients who supported Althelia Ecosphere, and in particular our friends at SERNANP, AIDER and FONDAM.
