August has begun and we want to share with you the events related to climate change that will take place this month, which is loaded with activities: a festival of environmental short films, a forum on sustainable development and many other novelties that you will not want to miss.

The Universidad Nacional de San Antonio Abad del Cusco together with the Pontificia Universidad Católica del Perú and the Eclim Research of the University of Zurich present this space for analysis and interdisciplinary debate with the aim of reflecting on the role of social sciences and their proposal in the face of events, phenomena and problems associated with climate change and its implications in society in order to contribute to social development and public policies and their responsibility to society and the State. A demonstration will be given on how the “Rompemuelle Bomba” technology kit works. This is an alternative technology to transport water for domestic and irrigation purposes. For its operation it requires a water source, vehicle flow, a speed reducer that works as pumping equipment and a connection system. It will be held on August 7 at 5:00 pm at the headquarters of the Grupo de Apoyo al Sector Rural PUCP (Av. Universitaria 1801, San Miguel).
As part of the Second International Forum on Urban Interventions: Public Space for Sustainable Cities in Peru and Latin America, Danish architect and cycling ambassador Lotte Bech will give a training on the importance of cycling for children. Climate Tracker and Climate de Cambios, with the support of the United Nations Development Program, will offer workshops on environmental and climate change journalism, aimed at young people interested in improving their knowledge and communication skills, and becoming part of an international network of young environmental communicators. Participation is by invitation only, but Clima de Cambios and Climate Tracker will keep you informed about what is happening.
The Cerro Blanco karst is located in the Alto Mayo basin, which represents one of today's main biodiversity hotspots. In this part of Peru, the Andean chain has been built up rapidly over the last million years, leading to an evolution of the relief and an incredible biological diversity. The karst environments are drivers of speciation and also excellent records of climatic variations, vegetation cover and tectonic events over time.

The objective of Peru Greenbuild 2017 is to promote, through national and international experiences, sustainability in post construction processes. The focus of the event will be the operations and maintenance of sustainable buildings, as well as their interconnectivity with the environment.
