Libélula participated in the VIII APEC SME Summit 2015
The VIII APEC SME Summit was held today at the Westin Hotel in San Isidro. The event was organized by ComexPeru, as representative of the Peruvian private sector to the Asia Pacific Economic Cooperation Forum (APEC). The purpose of this meeting was to boost competitiveness and increase exports from the companies' side.
The Minister of Production, Piero Ghezzi, gave the opening speech at the event and indicated that the Ministry of Production is currently working on the Forestry Regulation and on a financing fund with COFIDE for forestry.
He indicated that the mega-cycle of raw materials has concluded and urged the attendees to strengthen their capacities to make better use of them. "If we want to grow in the next 25 years, we cannot do what we did 25 years ago. It is time to strengthen our capabilities," he said.
Javier Perla, Libélula's Sustainable Business Manager, participated together with Jimena Baca, Head of Employment and Development, Saga Falabella in the discussion: "Inclusive Businesses, a commitment to Corporate Social Responsibility".
During his speech, Javier presented Ecopyme: the digital platform where small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) can register, calculate and monitor their energy and water consumption, as well as obtain recommendations and eco-efficient solutions to enhance their economic progress based on the development of good environmental practices.
To conclude his presentation, Javier remarked on the importance of sustainability for companies in the coming years. "By 2025 more than half of the world's population will be of the Millennial generation; they are different consumers, with decisions guided by new patterns. In the future there will be two types of companies: those that consider sustainability as the core of their business, and those that do not exist," he concluded.
