Within the framework of the Climate Commitment week organized by the Ministry of the Environment, the event "Carbon Footprint Neutralization Seminar" was organized. The event was held at the Country Club Hotel in Lima.

The Twentieth Conference of the Parties to the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change and the Tenth Meeting of the Parties to the Kyoto Protocol (COP20/CMP10), which took place from December 1 to 12 last year in Lima, was the first COP to neutralize all of its greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions.

The Lima COP20 required unprecedented logistics that included the design, assembly, fitting out and equipping of a space of more than 90,000 square meters in charge of the company GL-Events, which housed more than 14,000 participants from 194 countries. The activities carried out before, during and after the event generated a total of 39,664 tCOeq, with "participants' air travel" being the source that generated the most GHG emissions: 82% of the total.

Four Natural Protected Areas (NPAs) where REDD+ projects are being developed were involved in this footprint neutralization: Altomayo Protected Forest, Cordillera Azul National Park, Tambopata National Reserve and Bahuaja Sonene National Park.
