Background
The Decarboost Project - Catalyzing Investments to Decarbonize Latin America and the Caribbeane, is sponsored by the International Climate Initiative - IKI, funded by the Federal Ministry for the Environment, Nature Conservation and Nuclear Safety - BMU (Germany).
In its three years of implementation (2020-2023), Decarboost will provide evidence to support the creation of enabling conditions for the rapid decarbonization of the economies of Argentina, Brazil and Peru; promoting that financing flows are consistent with resilient, low-carbon development.
Led by SouthSouthNorth (South Africa), it is implemented by CentroClima-Federal University of Rio de Janeiro (Brazil), Fundación Torcuato Di Tella (Argentina), Libélula Comunicación Ambiente y Desarrollo (Peru), and New Climate Institute (Germany). The project operates at two scales: national and international.
At the level of the target countries, the project promotes public-private dialogue as a strategy for:
- Encourage greater ambition from these countries in their climate change mitigation and adaptation goals.
- Provide inputs for the design of effective financial instruments.
- Support the development of sector investment portfolios to advance the implementation of Nationally Determined Contributions (NDCs).
At the regional level, the project aims to contribute significantly to the development of the next generation of NDCs and as part of the ambition mechanism of the Paris Agreement.
For this, on an annual basis the project will implement:
- Investment and Climate Community of Practice, involving key stakeholders in the region.
- Annual report on climate finance in the region.
- Latin American Private Investment Forum as part of nexos+1.
- Guides for Action, an annual publication that presents best practices and lessons learned.
In the long term, the project seeks to contribute to the creation of conditions conducive to:
- To ensure that financing flows are consistent with low-carbon development in the economies of Argentina, Brazil and Peru;
- Promote an improved regulatory framework that integrates climate-friendly investments;
- Encourage greater ambition in mitigation and adaptation targets, in order to achieve the long-term objectives established in the Paris Agreement.
Activities
The specialist accompanies the process of design, implementation, monitoring and evaluation of the collaborative spaces and knowledge products of the knowledge management component of the Decarboost project.
The specialist will become part of the project's knowledge management (KM) team. For his/her work, he/she will have the logistical, communicational and organizational support of the nexos+1 platform. The knowledge management component is regional in scope, with emphasis on Argentina, Brazil and Peru.

Requirements and competencies
