The Latin American and Caribbean Platform for Low Emission and Resilient Development Strategies (LEDS LAC) begins a series of webinars that will present the experiences of cities that are taking action on climate change, with the support of regional cooperation initiatives.

The first webinar will be held on February 21 at 10:00 am. (Peru time)Building climate resilience: the experience of 13 Latin American cities.

International agendas recognize the importance of cities for a safe, equitable, resilient and sustainable future. This is especially relevant in Latin America, the most urbanized region in the world, where cities are highly vulnerable to climate change. Local governments play an essential role in achieving these objectives, as they are key in the design and implementation of local development policies that require a strong component of urban governance, particularly participatory decision-making processes that involve all stakeholders and ensure the implementation of actions to build climate resilience. But many times these local governments, mainly in medium and small cities in the region, do not have the necessary information for climate action.

The Climate Resilient Cities Initiative and two implementation experiences in six cities with different realities and contexts, which have managed to provide valuable information on the vulnerability of cities in a participatory manner and validated by key stakeholders, that can inform concrete actions to build climate resilience, will be presented.

This webinar is co-organized with: Climate and Development Alliance (CDKN), International Development Research Center (IDRC), Fundación Futuro Latinoamericano (FFLA).
