{"id":767,"date":"2016-02-17T00:00:00","date_gmt":"2016-02-17T05:00:00","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/beta.libelula.com.pe\/10-estudios-sobre-efectos-y-medidas-frente-al-cambio-climatico-en-america-latina\/"},"modified":"2019-12-01T16:32:25","modified_gmt":"2019-12-01T21:32:25","slug":"10-estudios-sobre-efectos-y-medidas-frente-al-cambio-climatico-en-america-latina","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/libelula.com.pe\/en\/10-estudios-sobre-efectos-y-medidas-frente-al-cambio-climatico-en-america-latina\/","title":{"rendered":"10 studies on climate change impacts and actions in Latin America"},"content":{"rendered":"<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">The\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/www.cepal.org\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Economic Commission for Latin America and the Caribbean (ECLAC)<\/a>\u00a0presents ten new studies on climate change in Latin America that analyze the link between this phenomenon and development styles, its interrelationship with the energy sector and its impact on agricultural activities and biodiversity, as well as adaptation and mitigation measures and environmental fiscal reforms to try to minimize its effects.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">These publications, produced by ECLAC's Sustainable Development and Human Settlements Division, are the result of the work carried out in the framework of\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/www.cepal.org\/es\/proyectos\/euroclima\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">EUROCLIMA<\/a>, The European Union and Latin America, a cooperation program financed by the European Union, in which the United Nations regional organization has been in charge of the component related to the development of public policies for mitigation and adaptation to climate change.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">In the report\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/www.cepal.org\/es\/publicaciones\/39751-cambio-climatico-la-energia-america-latina\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Climate change and energy in Latin America<\/a>\u00a0studies the main determinants of energy supply and demand in the region, its possible trajectories in relation to economic growth and climate change, and the main public policies applied in this sector. Two other publications -<a href=\"http:\/\/www.cepal.org\/es\/publicaciones\/39824-cambio-climatico-actividades-agropecuarias-america-latina\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Climate change and agricultural activities in Latin America<\/a>\u00a0y\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/www.cepal.org\/es\/publicaciones\/39855-cambio-climatico-sus-efectos-la-biodiversidad-america-latina\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Climate change and its effects on biodiversity in Latin America<\/a>- analyze the effects of climate change on the agricultural sector and on biodiversity, respectively.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">In addition, the study\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/www.cepal.org\/es\/publicaciones\/39781-medidas-adaptacion-mitigacion-frente-al-cambio-climatico-america-latina-caribe\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Adaptation and mitigation measures to climate change in Latin America and the Caribbean: A general review<\/a> synthesizes the main public policies on adaptation and mitigation implemented or considered in the region, while the report\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/www.cepal.org\/es\/publicaciones\/39842-adaptacion-al-cambio-climatico-america-latina-caribe\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Adaptation to climate change in Latin America and the Caribbean<\/a>\u00a0delves into the options and conditions for successful adaptation initiatives.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">At\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/www.cepal.org\/es\/publicaciones\/39782-la-reforma-fiscal-ambiental-america-latina\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Environmental fiscal reform in Latin America<\/a>\u00a0reviews the fiscal instruments used at the regional and international levels and draws some lessons for the design of these reforms. This topic is also addressed in\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/www.cepal.org\/es\/publicaciones\/39750-la-economia-politica-la-reforma-fiscal-ambiental-america-latina\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">The political economy of environmental fiscal reform in Latin America<\/a>, which analyzes the political processes and resistance that such initiatives must face, from their elaboration to their implementation.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">On the other hand, the report\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/www.cepal.org\/es\/publicaciones\/39661-federalismo-ambiental-america-latina-revision\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Environmental federalism in Latin America: a review<\/a>\u00a0analyzes, based on different objectives and circumstances, which level of government - national, state or municipal - should be in charge of environmental policy and what are the conditions for its success.
