An exhibition of the best environmental projects in Latin America will be held in Guayaquil, Ecuador, from September 23 to 25, in an event that will feature lectures by renowned experts.<\/p>\n
The Green Latin America Awards<\/a> are considered the \u201cOscars\u201d of the environment. It is an annual celebration that recognizes the growth of environmental awareness in the region and also serves as a meeting point for the regional community committed to the same cause.<\/p>\n A technical commission made up of representatives of the United Nations, the Earth Foundation of Costa Rica, the Andean Development Confederation and the Inter-American Development Bank chose the Peruvian initiative \u201cEcopyme\u201d as a finalist among the three best projects in the energy category presented this year.<\/p>\n Ecopyme is a free access tool that allows SMEs to register, calculate and monitor their energy and water consumption, as well as obtain eco-efficient recommendations and solutions in order to boost their economic progress while implementing good environmental practices.<\/p>\n This platform seeks to reduce the effects of climate change while contributing to cost savings for small and medium-sized companies. SMEs could save up to 1.5 million soles a year in energy consumption by reducing their electricity consumption, as well as stop consuming 500 million liters of water.<\/p>\n Ecopyme<\/a> is an initiative promoted by SabMiller-BACKUS<\/a>, the Lima Chamber of Commerce<\/a> y WWF<\/a>.
