Kenya has submitted its Intended Nationally Determined Contribution (INDC) and has committed to reduce 30% of its Greenhouse Gases (GHGs) by 2030 relative to a\u00a0BAU stage<\/a>. To this end, the country will develop an ambitious mitigation plan starting in 2015, and considers that key factors for the success of the INDCs must include historical responsibility.<\/p>\n

To reach the target, Kenya will implement a special plan on energy use, in which the use of geothermal, solar and wind energy will be expanded. In the\u00a0official document<\/a>\u00a0indicates that the country's capacity to undertake strong mitigation actions depends on support for adaptation measures, for which a complete sustainable development program will be carried out, which will require international assistance in finance, investment, technology and capacity to achieve the expected reduction.<\/p>\n

The INDCs are an input to the new climate agreement expected to be reached in Paris, which will come into force in 2020 and will serve to empower all countries to act to keep global warming below 2 degrees Celsius. The agreement will also serve to take full advantage of the many opportunities presented by the necessary global transformation towards clean and sustainable development.<\/p>\n

To date, 49 Parties to the UNFCCC have submitted their contributions. These are the European Union<\/a> and its 28 members, Switzerland<\/a>, Norway<\/a>, Mexico<\/a>, United States<\/a>, Gabon<\/a>, Russia<\/a>, Liechtenstein<\/a>, Andorra<\/a>, Canada<\/a>, Morocco<\/a>, Ethiopia<\/a>, Serbia<\/a>, Iceland<\/a>, China<\/a>, Korea<\/a>, Singapore<\/a>, New Zealand<\/a>, Japan<\/a>, Marshall Islands<\/a>, y Kenya<\/a>.<\/p>\n
