The event was attended by Juan Pablo Larenas, co-founder of Sistema B, the leading promoter of B companies in the South American region, who explained the rationale behind this model: <em>\u201cThis new business model has the conviction to solve the problems that exist in the world, it must be understood that the company is part of the solution.\u201d<\/em>.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Sistema B believes in an economy in which the success of companies is measured by the well-being of people, society and nature. They promote the transition to sustainable economies that prioritize the development of B Corporations. This concept originated in 2008, in the United States under the name \u201cBenefit Corporation\u201d, later to become simply \u00abB Corp\u00bb.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">B Corporations redefine the meaning of business success, using the strength of the market to solve social and environmental problems. It is a new way of doing business, which expands the fiduciary duty of shareholders and managers to incorporate non-financial interests, fulfilling a commitment to generate positive socio-environmental impacts, operating with high standards of performance and transparency.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Currently, there are <a href=\"http:\/\/www.bcorporation.net\/community\/find-a-b-corp\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">1,300 companies <\/a>certified in 39 countries.
