This event was organized by the National Forest Conservation Program of the Ministry of Environment, which reported that it already has new adherents, 32 indigenous communities that agreed to join the plan to receive incentives in exchange for taking care of the land from deforestation. Eighteen of them have ratified the plan and 14 will do so for the first time.<\/p>\n<p>The communities belong to the Awaj\u00fan, Wampis, Kechwa, Ash\u00e1ninka, Nomatsiguenga and Yanesha ethnic groups and are located in the departments of San Mart\u00edn, Amazonas, Pasco, Cusco and Jun\u00edn.<\/p>\n<p>Gabriel Quijandr\u00eda, Vice-Minister of the Environment, said that this program is a conditional financial transfer instrument. Communities are granted 10 soles per hectare for 5 years in exchange for a conservation commitment.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cNow 18 new communities have been incorporated and in total there are 64.
