Have you ever wondered about the importance of forests in the future of humanity? Did you know that forests are the lungs of the planet? This is one of the priority themes of the United Nations Conference on Climate Change COP20, to be held in December 2014, precisely in the most polluted city in Latin America, Lima.

In this context, on May 6, 2014, the third ComuniCOP was held, a space for communicators dedicated to the debate on the challenges of communicating arguments linked to the priorities of COP20. On this occasion, the central theme was: forests and their relationship with climate change.

National and international experts participated in the event. “Forests suffer alterations not only from deforestation but also from agriculture and livestock and extractive industries. It must be recognized that forests have different political and social scenarios: it is not the same to defend them today as it was 20 years ago, but it is possible to improve the optimization of forests,” said Cerrón, head of Communications in MINAM's Forestry Program.

«We are a country of forests but we do not have a forest culture» concluded Gustavo Suarez de Freitas, Coordinator of the National Forest Conservation Program for Climate Change Mitigation of the Ministry of Environment (MINAM).
