[September 1 - 30] [September 1 - 30  X National Contest of Successful Experiences in BioTrade, Green Growth and Sustainable Development in Peru

The Master in Biotrade and Sustainable Development of the Pontificia Universidad Católica del Perú, in the framework of its 10-year anniversary, seeks to motivate young undergraduate and graduate students nationwide on the importance of the sustainable use of goods and services of the country's biodiversity. The contest seeks to document successful experiences of associations or public or private institutions linked to the sustainable use of any of the subsectors that biotrade points out. The reception of the work will be until Monday, November 18, 2019 until 6:00 p.m. via email: [email protected]

This webinar, co-organized by LEDS LAC and the NDC Partnership, is the third in a series of six webinars focused on reviewing and increasing the ambition of climate commitments. This time, the focus will be on analyzing the role of adaptation in increasing the ambition of NDCs from a variety of perspectives. It will begin with an introduction to regional progress on adaptation issues. It will then discuss the experience of countries and experts in the region on the different approaches that can be taken to increase ambition in national climate action through the integration of adaptation. [16 September] International Day for the Preservation of the Ozone Layer

The ozone layer is a fragile strip of gas that protects the Earth from the harmful effects of the sun's rays, thus helping to preserve life on the planet. However, the use over the years of certain chemical products has damaged it, endangering our own existence and that of the rest of the planet's living beings.

This year's theme celebrates more than three decades of international cooperation in the fight to protect the ozone layer and the climate under the Montreal Protocol, and also reminds us that we must keep up the momentum to ensure healthy people and a healthy planet.

This September 20, civil organizations and environmental activists are calling for the 3rd World Climate Mobilization to declare a Climate Emergency in Peru.

[22 September]. World Car Free Day

This is an initiative that, through different activities, invites citizens to leave their cars in their garages. It seeks to convey the message that we do not have to accept a car-dominated society and raise awareness about the great dependence on fossil fuels with which we live.

An annual event that has taken place in New York City since 2009, this is where the United Nations General Assembly meets with international leaders from business, government and civil society to join forces for global climate action.

Over the past six decades, tourism has grown and diversified steadily. It has become one of the world's most important and fastest growing sectors, benefiting communities around the globe.

International tourist arrivals worldwide have grown from 25 million in 1950 to 1.3 billion today. In the same period, tourism revenues in destination countries increased from US$2 billion to US$1.26 trillion.

The sector accounts for an estimated 10 percent of the world's Gross Domestic Product (GDP), employs 10 percent of the world's workers, and the World Tourism Organization (UNWTO) expects it to continue growing at an annual rate of 3 percent until 2030.
