Results of the study on mitigation scenarios and options for Peru to 2050 were presented at a meeting with the Association of Foreign Press in Peru (APEP).
On Wednesday, July 16, a press conference was held for international journalists to present the results of the 1st phase of the PlanCC (Planning for Climate Change) project.
The event was held at the FourPoints Hotel in Miraflores and was attended by journalists from Agence EFE, Agence France Press (AFP), Televisa, Time, Noticias Aliadas, DPA, CCTV, among others.
This meeting, proposed to the APEP Executive Secretariat and coordinated with the Communications area of MINAM, was aimed at positioning the prospective study carried out by the Climate Change Planning Project (PlanCC), as a national initiative aimed at building technical and scientific bases, influencing the incorporation of the climate change variable in the country's development planning and exploring the feasibility of a "clean" or "low emissions" development.
The dynamics of the meeting was led by the President of APEP, Luis Jaime Cisneros, who introduced the Director of Climate Change of MINAM, Eduardo Durand, to present the results of Phase I of PlanCC. This was followed by questions and answers from PlanCC technical team members (Lupe Guinand and Maria Elena Gutierrez) and senior project experts (Gustavo Solano, Jorge Vega and Geoffrey Cannock).
APEP members emphasized questions on aspects such as state investment, public policy design, recent government economic measures, as well as the link of this study to COP20 and the next steps of the PlanCC project.
