About the 06 Peruvian finalists going for the Green Awards statuettes

Alinti: Electrical energy from plant photosynthesis

Alinti is a biological energy system that provides electricity 24 hours a day, generating energy from the photosynthesis of plants and electrogenic microorganisms in collaboration with a photovoltaic system. It has devices for homes, public spaces and green roofs for companies.

Its portable devices not only produce biological and clean energy, but also absorb more than 100 kg of CO2 per day for every 15 m2. Aliti's goal is to become an alternative for the production of biological, clean and natural electrical energy for all its users.

Peru for Nature

Perú Por Naturaleza is the first crowdfunding platform and digital ecosystem for the environment in Peru. Through different fundraising mechanisms, funds are obtained for the management of the Natural Protected Areas of Peru (NPA). This platform also allows different organizations, companies and individuals to create their own initiatives to raise funds for conservation and nature projects. The project seeks to impact mainly on the sustainable development of the communities living in the buffer zones of the protected natural areas of the Peruvian Amazon.

The impact of this initiative allowed more than 400 families and close to 1,000 people to benefit directly from the health crisis generated by Covid 19 and other climate crises generated in protected areas where communities live.

Purple Lab

Purpuralab is a sustainable textile company that produces clothing for fashion brands, helping them to have a positive impact on society. Traceability in their processes is fundamental as they advise brands on the entire textile process, designs, finishes and the measurement of sustainable impacts of their clients.

They measure the social and environmental impacts of each production through transparency reports provided to their clients, which allow for better productive and sustainable decision making.

They currently have a network of 15 allied workshops with whom they work and help to make visible in the value chain, promoting fair trade and strengthening the local market. They recycle and transform the surplus of their production process into raw material (more than 300kg), which are reinserted in the market for consumption.

Mail on Bike

Mail On Bike is the first bike courier service in Lima that specializes in the transportation of products and documents for online businesses, physical stores, independent professionals and individuals. Its main objective is to contribute to reduce CO2 emissions, improve the quality of life and health of its employees, reduce traffic on the streets and environmental noise and be a clean and sustainable alternative to the courier of parcels or products.

Currently, the impact of this project has directly benefited more than 2,800 entrepreneurs who see in this service an efficient, sustainable and less costly way than the use of courier services through vehicles with combustion engines. It is estimated that the environmental impact of this project has generated close to 300 tons of CO2 in the environment and 67,000 hours of environmental noise.

Paleo-Park Piura

This project proposes to extend the research activities of the Paleontology Institute of the National University of Piura, created 21 years ago, by reinforcing the connection between the fossil record and the loss of biodiversity caused by climate change. The projected interpretation center and science park (Paleo-Park) will have the mission of disseminating knowledge of the history of biodiversity and its lessons for dealing with climate change and promoting environmental education. This project will benefit approximately 1,500 students and more than 9,000 people living in the surrounding areas.

Pucush Uclo Ojo del Mundo wetland

This project focused on creating the PUCUSH UCLO EYE OF THE WORLD WETLAND, an area with immense biodiversity that should be considered a protected area by national and international organizations.

Among its notable achievements was the balancing of the environment by introducing 24,000 birds of 17 different species, which were disappearing from the valley due to global warming and deforestation.

Currently, this wetland creates productive environments that support a great biological diversity, water sources and primary productivity for many plant and animal species. They also provide important services to humans, such as a constant supply of water, raw materials, flood control support, and climate change mitigation.
