Libélula receives recognition from Corresponsables at the presentation of its 2015 Yearbook
The magazine "Corresponsables" presented the second Peruvian edition of the Corresponsables yearbook, a publication that includes more than 1,800 success stories on sustainability in the country. Taking advantage of the celebration of its tenth anniversary, recognition was given to the allied companies that have supported its trajectory and dissemination during this time. Libélula received this distinction.
Since 2005, Corresponsables has assumed the objective of informing in the most objective, broad and contrasted manner on issues that interest or may interest the business world in its relationship with society. It also applies Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) to its own organization, as an informative company and key stakeholder.
The importance of a publication of this magnitude is that it has managed to compile more than 150 case studies and corporate files, with the intervention of 14 opinions of national and international experts. The Corresponsables Yearbook has the support of more than 20 organizations.
Marcos González, president and editor of Corresponsables, stressed the importance of communicating corporate social responsibility actions. He expressed that it is not about competing, but about having the same vision, communicating and imitating the good. "Whether we like it or not, companies have a lot to say and do, especially with the power they have in countries around the world," he mentioned.
For Marcos, it is not only the companies that should share this responsibility, but there is a need to form a public-private alliance to find a better balance between economic, social and environmental factors. Finally, he criticized the lack of transparency on the part of some local companies in terms of Social Responsibility, since Peru has very few duly audited and accredited sustainability reports.
This presentation was also attended by Mariano Castro, Vice Minister of Environmental Management of the Ministry of Environment (MINAM), who commented that among the things to improve is the fact that currently Corporate Social Responsibility is not considered as a direct benefit to business management, so its costs are not considered for tax deduction purposes. "This approach implies situating the CSR process as it was previously understood. As a philanthropic issue not integrated into business policy and management.", he pointed out.
For Henri Le Bienvenu, General Manager of Peru 2021, Social Responsibility is the management tool that leads us to sustainability. "We have to ask ourselves if what we have been working on is enough, and the answer is 'no'. Management indicators are very good. But we must now move on to impact indicators.", he quoted.
Javier Perla, Libélula's Sustainable Business Manager, highlighted the importance of communication in Social Responsibility. For him, it is of utmost importance not only to communicate, but to understand the receiving public so that a reflection is achieved in them, and after that process they make a decision to build a more sustainable world. "The key is to connect with people's heartstrings and make them understand that the issue of sustainable development is here to stay.".
