Peru 2021 and Libellula today launched the Corporate Climate Commitment initiative: a platform that seeks to measure the level of maturity, regarding climate change, of the private sector in Peru. Javier Perla, Libélula's Sustainable Business Manager, presented the initiative at the 19th International Symposium Modern Business and Social Responsibility organized by Peru 2021.

The initiative revolves around the commitment of the private sector in the management of climate change and seeks to demonstrate the good practices currently carried out by Peruvian companies to reduce and offset their carbon footprint, as well as their eco-efficiency actions, in order to demonstrate their leadership and responsibility within the framework of COP 20.

Corporate Climate Commitment has a tool to show the progress of companies, the 7C platform, a voluntary reporting system that allows the user to identify how many companies are carrying out actions in any of the 7 axes: Commit, Calculate, Train, Conduct, Compensate, Consider and Communicate.

Corporate Climate Commitment already has the support of a group of important companies. To date, leading Peruvian companies in different fields have assumed the commitment, including Prima AFP, BCP, Pacífico, Toyota, Tasa, Austral, Telefonica, Rimac, Plaza Vea, Vivanda, UNACEM, LAN, Odebrech and Rimac.

The 7C is a fundamental tool for monitoring private sector progress in climate change management.

The driving group is made up of WWF, PAGE, Care, the United Nations Development Program (UNDP), the National Society of Industries (SIN), the Carbon Finance Platform, SERNANP, PROFONANPE, IICA, AVINA and the Universidad del Pacífico. Partners include: Microsol, AIDER, CEEP, ECODES, L.O.O.P and RamaClara.

During the Symposium, important companies such as Teléfonica and Natura recognized the importance, relevance and need for a voluntary reporting system for companies.
