The Climate Change Time Machine at the Expo Sustainable Management 2015
Today began the most important Social Responsibility meeting in the country: EXPO Sustainable Management. Organized by Perú 2021 and the Pontificia Universidad Católica del Perú for the past 12 years, this event seeks to promote and disseminate the socially and environmentally responsible behavior of companies in Peru.
This year's edition features the Climate Change Time Machine, a futuristic ride made of recyclable 100% cardboard, whose mission is to raise awareness about the impact of our civilization on the climate, which on the first day alone exceeded 500 visits.
In this "journey through time" the public can learn about two major climate change scenarios for 2050: the first warns us what the world will be like if humanity continues its current trend of pollution and greenhouse gas emissions; the second, on the other hand, shows us a future in which urgent measures are taken to avoid exceeding 1.5 degrees Celsius in the global average temperature.
The "Time Machine" has the participation of young people from Generation +1, a community of entrepreneurial leaders who develop projects focused on climate change, who are in charge of conducting interesting guided tours to visitors of this device, which will be available until Friday, May 8.
The Sustainable Management Expo featured the presentation "Climate Change does NOT affect my business", by Javier Perla, Libélula's Sustainable Business Manager, who inspired attendees to take action on climate change as it is an issue that will affect the profitability of businesses.
"More than 60% of the world's consumers prefer to buy from environmentally responsible organizations," he said, and then presented the initiative that measures maturity in Climate Change issues in companies: Corporate Climate Commitment, which currently has a tool that shows progress, called 7C.
One of the new features of this year's Expo Gestión Sostenible is the development of Working Groups between companies, government and civil society that will attend the event. These tables will discuss issues of importance for sustainable development and exchange experiences that contribute to the optimization of social and environmental processes of responsible companies.
This year, it is expected to surpass the attendance of EXPO RSE 2014, which had more than 7 thousand visitors, 70 participating companies and organizations, 400 CSR programs on display and 20 hours of free workshops.
