JUNE Celebrations

The purpose of this date is to recognize the work of people who, either as employees or independently, are dedicated to the selective collection of material for recycling, segregation and commercialization of non-hazardous solid waste on a small scale.

This day recognizes the uniqueness, longevity and versatility of the bicycle, which has been in use for two centuries, and is a sustainable, simple, affordable, reliable, clean and ecological means of transportation that contributes to environmental stewardship and benefits health.

This is the most important date in the official United Nations calendar for promoting environmental action. It has become a global public outreach platform that brings together governments, businesses, celebrities and citizens around a pressing environmental issue.

The oceans are the lungs of our planet, providing most of the oxygen we breathe. This day seeks to raise public awareness of the consequences that human activity has on the oceans and to launch a global citizens' movement in favor of the oceans.

Desertification is land degradation in arid, semi-arid and dry sub-humid areas. It is caused mainly by human activity and climatic variations. This day seeks to raise awareness about international initiatives to combat these phenomena.

The set of dishes and culinary uses typical of a given place is one more expression of the natural and cultural diversity of the planet. The celebration of this Day is intended to promote eating habits - which include the production, preparation and consumption of food - that are more respectful of the environment and local traditions.

The preservation of forests generates many benefits for human beings, the most important of which is medical progress related to the improvement of technology and clinical treatment. In addition, the natural resources of forests are also important in the provision of food, as there are many plant species that can be staple crops due to their high protein content.
