Generation+1 has been boosting the optimism, will and collaboration of young Peruvians for the past two years, thanks to programs such as Talent+1 and Ambassadors+1. This initiative has enabled participants to develop skills to accelerate missions of entrepreneurship, advocacy, research and communication during 2014 and 2015.

Get to know the story of those who wrote very important pages in the history of the community+1:

  1. Bitia Chávez: Today he is part of Sinba, a social enterprise that seeks to create regenerative models that add to Peruvian gastronomy, reducing food waste and taking advantage of it. Together with Andrea and Pipo, also members of the community, they have just been chosen to be part of the 4th generation of StartUp Peru, with the Sinba project.
  2. Arturo Salazar: Geographer from PUCP. He is in southern Germany, volunteering in a protected natural area, where he studies the effects of climate change on the life cycle of various bird species. Together with other colleagues from the university, he developed the Desert Gardens project, which sought to promote gardens sustained with domestic wastewater and appropriate for coastal areas of the country.
  3. María Fernanda Pineda: She has been working for more than a year as coordinator of the Regional Program on Energy Security and Climate Change in Latin America of the Konrad Adenuer Stiftung Foundation. In this role, she has been promoting a series of spaces for dialogue on democracy and climate change, as well as various research projects. Among them, “Cambia la participación, Cambia el Clima”, elaborated in 2014 during the Ambassadors+1 program, stands out.
  4. Francisco Meléndez: He is currently in charge of the Sustainable Development Department at PUCP, where he is promoting different initiatives on climate change communication and capacity building for more students on sustainability issues. In addition, he will soon be participating as a delegate of his university in the 2016 edition of the World Student Environmental Network, to be held in the United Kingdom.
  5. Melissa Ingaruca: Audiovisual communicator and passionate about sustainable architecture, who was also part of the organizing team of Generation + 1, is about to participate in the VI National Forum of Universities, Environmental Management and Sustainable Development in the city of Cusco, where she will present a set of proposals to promote the transition of universities towards the paradigm of Sustainable University, along with different students and graduates from more than five universities in Lima and Callao.
  6. David Garcia: He has just launched the Emprendedores Anónimos initiative, with the backing of the organization he founded years ago called Club del Emprendedor (Entrepreneur's Club). This new effort will seek to foster the creative spirit, facilitating the development of innovative ideas of many more young people interested in implementing business solutions.
  7. Camila Clausen: After her undergraduate studies in Australia, she was part of Tikari until recently. Today, facing new challenges, she promotes the incorporation of sustainability in student participation at Universidad Pacífico. She has also recently become involved as a member of the Conservamos por Naturaleza team, one of the leading Peruvian organizations in the creation of voluntary conservation initiatives.
  8. Marco Martinez: He is currently in Massachusetts, on a scholarship from the U.S. Department of State, to be part of the Environmental Sustainability Professional Program. Upon his return, he will continue studying his second degree in Economics and Environmental Management at the Universidad Antonio Ruiz de Montoya. Before his trip, he worked as an administrator of the Salesian Technical Productive Education Center.
  9. Brenda Vaccari: Forestry engineer from Universidad Agraria la Molina. Today she is part of the PACC Peru program, and says that the Generation+1 experience allowed her to take advantage of essential knowledge for the work she does every day. Last year she traveled to France to participate in COP21, as part of the Peruvian youth delegation accredited by MINAM, following up on the forest issue.
  10. Bernardo Pereyra: known as the poet, is undoubtedly one of the most charismatic and consistent of the community. A vegetarian for years, he lives motivated by the search for the "we". On a daily basis, he dedicates his time to empowering the human talent of the students and strengthening the youth organizations of the Universidad del Pacífico. In addition, he is promoting the process of dissemination of the new Sustainable Development Goals, hand in hand with other organizations such as the UNDP.
  11. Luz Vargas: Psychologist from the Pontificia Universidad Católica del Perú. She came to Generación+1 and later joined Libélula. She played a central role in the implementation of the Talent+1 program, being the first point of contact with the participants. After the program ended, she was promoted to be part of the core team responsible for strengthening human talent at Libélula. From her functions, she has been gradually converting various Talent +1 learning opportunities into action opportunities to improve the organization's performance.
  12. Pipo Reiser: Also a member of Sinba, he has just returned from Chile, where he participated in a 10-day training in the Regenerative Design course offered by Ecoescuela El Manzano, along with Bitia and Andrea. Determined to integrate and sustain a zero waste vision in Peru, he also invests his time promoting the circular economy strategy at Libélula, together with other experts and entrepreneurs. He is also one of the promoters of the Young Peruvians against Climate Change initiative.

They, as well as all the members of the community, are the driving force and motive of the cause, and motivate us to continue believing that the balance between evidence and spontaneity is necessary to break into the system and to launch solutions that accelerate transformation.

The clock is not on our side, but the strength of being one with nature will allow us to achieve the changes we dream of a few at a time, and without realizing it, to form with many other actors, the capacities to face a future that is less and less uncertain.
