Today was held the Peruvian-Nordic Forum on Sustainable Development at the Pardo Double Tree Hotel. The event was attended by companies such as Libelula, Partners Peru, Reply and the Arnao Tiravanti Bridge Studio. Its purpose was to show the current guidelines and trends in social responsibility and sustainable development, as well as the impact that these policies have on Peruvian companies today.
According to Carlos Salazar, executive director of Partners Peru, “companies have yet to emphasize human rights compliance in their social responsibility practices.”He stressed that today it is not enough to respect communities, but that policies must be developed that do not put people's rights at risk.
The participation of Jorge Melo Vega, general manager of Reply, He focused on the importance of citizenship, as well as on human rights, their evolution and current situation. As he mentioned Jorge Melo, The paradigms of social responsibility must be broken and companies must play a greater role in promoting and influencing CSR.
He further stressed that public services and citizenship are an opportunity to reach a large number of people on a daily basis, that the biggest challenge we have is to foster citizenship and that we need to have better citizens. “One of the country's greatest challenges is to reduce informality and generate more confidence in the private sector.”, he stated.
On the other hand, Jorge Adrianzén, lawyer of the Arnao Tiravanti Bridge Studio, explained that “Each company has its own policy and strategy for managing its relations with the communities. Nowadays, organizations must internalize how their actions in their relations with society are closely linked to their social responsibility activities.".
“Without harmony, there is no development”, he said. He invited the attendees to get to know the communities they work with, to understand the environment and to generate awareness in the companies so that the social commitment is real.
Finally, Javier Perla, manager of Sustainable Business from Libelula, participated in the Forum with the exhibition: “Climate Change in a voluntary way, around 7 axes of commitment”The role of the private sector in the process of the National Contributions (iNDC) to increase the economic potential of countries and significantly reduce their per capita carbon emissions.
