COY 10: Young people promote climate declaration towards COP 20
From November 28-30, more than 1,000 young people from 100 countries will participate in the Tenth Climate Change Youth Conference (COY), the most important annual global youth event, which this year will be held for the first time in Peru, within the framework of COP 20. COY 10 will be held at the Universidad Nacional Agraria La Molina, where more than 1000 young people and environmental leaders will gather during the three days.
This event is promoted by the international organization YOUNGO (Youth United for Climate Progress), and is a space for exchange and integration of experiences, lessons learned and best practices, with the purpose of strengthening the global youth climate movement and engaging the next generations in the development of actions to address climate change within the framework of international cooperation.
This year in particular, it is expected to build an Agenda and a Youth Climate Declaration towards COP 20 and COP 21 (Paris 2015). The event will feature lectures by renowned national and international environmental specialists, as well as workshops, discussion spaces, and forums on the different topics to be addressed at COP 20. There will also be a fair and other socialization spaces to reinforce and celebrate the unity of young people in the face of climate change issues.
COY, known for its diversity and cultural richness, has been organized by a team of youth organizations and volunteers who have been working to strengthen the Climate Youth Movement. This year, the COY10 Organizing Group is made up of 9 Peruvian organizations and about 80 volunteers.
