For the sixth consecutive year, the citizen observatory Lima Cómo Vamos, presented the results of its “Lima Cómo Vamos Survey, Perception Report on Quality of Life” to contribute to the urban knowledge of our city. The mission of Lima Cómo Vamos is to disseminate and produce constant information on the quality of life in Metropolitan Lima and, at the same time, to promote active citizenship.

The survey reports that crime and citizen insecurity have been considered the main problem affecting the quality of life in Lima. Public transportation is the second problem and public cleanliness or garbage accumulation appears for the first time as the third problem in our capital city.

Pollution from vehicles (74%), the garbage collection system (40%), and the lack of trees and maintenance of green areas (39%) are considered among the main environmental problems. Likewise, for half of Lima residents, noise control in the street is the environmental aspect with the highest percentage of dissatisfaction (55%), followed by parks and green areas for public use in the city (42%). More than 76% of Limeños reported having felt an important change in the city's climate in the last five years.

Lima Cómo Vamos considers that citizens' perception is important for decision making and policy development in public management. Lima Como Vamos is a private initiative promoted by Asociación UNACEM, Grupo RPP, PUCP and Cálidda.
