Learn how climate change will affect us and what kind of solutions we can use to combat it.
- August 4:
Webinar: The adoption of the concept of Climate-Smart Agriculture in Latin American public policies, organized by LEDS LAC
This webinar provides an introduction to the concept of Climate-Smart Agriculture (CSA) and examples applied in Latin America and the Caribbean. It will also present the strategy "Sustainable agriculture in a changing climate", as an ambitious case for adaptation and mitigation in the agricultural sector, which involves an alliance with the country's productive associations to address climate variability and climate change.
- August 9:
International Day of the World's Indigenous People
On December 23, 1994, the United Nations General Assembly established the date as the International Decade of the World's Indigenous People. It is a welcome occasion to applaud and pay tribute to those who silently and historically care for our planet, safeguarding ways of life compatible with the principles of sustainability. The 2015 theme is "Indigenous Peoples as Stewards of the Earth and its Ecosystems". For more information and the official program, log on to here.

Air Quality Day
In order to raise public awareness of the importance of not polluting the environment and avoiding the use of harmful elements that affect the atmosphere, the second Friday of August is celebrated as Inter-American Air Quality Day.

Virtual Meeting: "Cities in LAC: Challenges, Alternatives and Synergy" (online)
Within the framework of the Program of virtual meetings with a regional perspective developed by Nivela, El Árbol and CO2.cr, this meeting will address the existing alternatives for the imminent transition towards sustainable and low-carbon cities to generate greater social inclusion and equity of access to services.
