April, 2022. Green Awards, the not-for-profit organization that recognizes and rewards environmental and social projects around the world held its ninth edition in the city of Miami; and Peru was present as a winner thanks to three socio-environmental projects that represented us.

Wired Amazon, qAIRa and Corazones Solidarios were awarded in the categories of Biodiversity, Sustainable Cities and Human Development, respectively. The celebration took place during the Awards Gala held this Sunday, April 24 at the Arsht Center - Knight Concert Hall, in the city of Miami.

Wired Amazon was the winning project in the Biodiversity - Fauna category. Located in the Tambopata National Reserve in Peru, Wired Amazon uses the latest technologies in favor of scientific research for forest conservation. Within its initiative, tourists are invited to participate in the protection of the forests by learning about citizen science.

qAIRa was the big Peruvian winner of the night, winning 3 awards: first place in the Cities - Urban Community category; the AT&T Tech For Good Award; and the UNDP Award. QAIRa works by monitoring environmental problems related to Lima's vehicle fleet and mining in the province in real time, with sensors that follow emerging technologies. Through their low-cost operations they measure polluting gases and meteorological variables.

And in the Human Development category, in the Equality subcategory, the project Solidarity Hearts of the Oli Foundation, was the winner. Corazones Solidarios seeks to reduce the poverty of families in need and whose children undergo medical treatment through empowerment by means of basic decorative sewing. In this way it creates a supportive community that produces and interacts while generating income that contributes to the family economy.

The Awards Gala featured the main animation of Ecuadorian actor Roberto Manrique and the musical intervention of Gente de Zona, Matanza DJs and Lena Burke, who animated and put the audience in rhythm with their songs and melodies. Sylvia Earle, the National Geographic explorer and marine biology expert with the record for the deepest walk on the seabed, was also in attendance.

Among the guests at the ceremony were: Francis X. Suarez (Mayor of Miami), Cynthia Viteri (Mayor of Guayaquil), Jose Javier Guarderas (CEO and Co-founder of Premios Verdes), among others.

Each project was evaluated by a jury made up of international institutions, including the United Nations. The awards were made in the following categories: Economy, Biodiversity, Energy, Human Development, Cities, Communication, Waste and Public Policy.
