About the event
Within the framework of COP27 in Egypt, the side event “Opportunities and challenges in the development of LTS in Latin America and the role of finance” was held, with the participation of public sector institutions, projects, initiatives and multilateral organizations.
The words of welcome were given by the Minister of the Environment of Peru, Wilbert Rozas, and the closing remarks were made by the Head of the Climate Change Division of the Inter-American Development Bank, Graham Watkins.
The DecarBOOST project was present in the second panel with the participation of Blanca Rengifo, coordinator of the project in Peru (Libélula) and Rocío García, technical leader of the Project (SSN) as moderator. This panel addressed issues on the implementation and financing of climate action in Latin America.
The DecarBOOST coordinator in Peru mentioned the AFOLU and Energy sectors that were prioritized by the project due to their main contribution to the country’s economy and their high potential for GHG reduction. At the same time, it appeared that investment opportunities have been identified and developed to contribute to decarbonization, especially in Argentina, Brazil and Peru.
